Learning to Fly || Kurt, Sam and Artie

walkingwizard-artie:

Artie gulped. This was the part that make the butterflies in his stomach grow savage. He was going to have to leave the ground and start to hover if he wanted to feel some sort of accomplishment.  He had watched Sam soar up into the sky so easily, like a second nature. He felt a touch of jealousy, watching the blond boy hover above his and Kurts head. He squeezed his eyes closed, images of himself up in the air whizzing around his head. Artie was so focused on trying to see himself flying that he hadn’t felt his feet lift off the ground. He was about to say that he didn’t think he was ready for this when he opened his eyes and saw that he was at least four feet above ground, hovering on the spot. “Hey! Hey, look!” Artie cried, lookin all around at the ground beneath him. “Im doing it” he called again, letting his voice ring out in pride. He leaned in closer to the handle of his broom and began to go, slowly but surely, forwards and upwards towards Sam. He finally flew up beside him, wobbling slightly. “I can’t believe I did it!” he said, hesitantly releasing one of his hands from the broom and reached over to give Sam a highfive.

Kurt watched with a proud smile as Sam took off into the air, he was always such a great flier it was easy to get envious but he never did. He was glad that Sam was great at it and always supported him by going to his games and making posters for the team and what not. However he turned his eyes onto Artie as he saw him squeeze his eyes shut and start focusing on hardly on flying. Kurt gasped silently as he saw Artie float up into the air, he wanted to say something but he was scared it might cause him to fall back down to the ground. He smiled at him brightly before Artie opened his eyes and realized that he was flying.

Kurt watched as Artie flew up and gave Sam a high five, it brought a gigantic smile to his face and it was his turn now. He gripped onto the handle of the broom a bit tighter and tried to remember everything that Sam had taught him. He levitated slowly into the air, shaking around a bit before floating up to the level that Sam and Artie were on. He felt that at any moment he could fall off just from how much he was shaking from left to right. “A-Aah. Good job A-Artie!” Kurt stuttered out as his broom spun around a few times. There was a bright red blush on his face as he smiled at the other two males with embarrassment at his poor flying skills.

Learning to fly || Kurt, Sam and Artie

walkingwizard-artie:

-samthelion:

“Yeah, it’s totally my fault,” Sam tossed back over toward his boyfriend, smiling a goofy smile at him before leaning in and pressing another quick kiss to his lips.  He took a few steps back from the two of them, shooting Artie a quick smile before turning around and jogging toward the locker room.  The goofy smile on his face remained in place the entire trip - he couldn’t help it.  Whenever it came to Kurt, he couldn’t not smile.

He headed over to his cutout and grabbed his Nimbus before heading over to Rory’s and grabbing his Cleansweep before making his way back out of the locker room and over to the field.  He could see Kurt and Artie talking up ahead, and he bit back a laugh at the way he’d reacted a month before, when he’d been so worried that Kurt had feelings for the bespectacled Ravenclaw - in reality, it had been Sam he’d had feelings for all along.  Well, in some regards, at least.  To the furthest of Sam’s knowledge, he was pretty sure that Kurt still had no idea about any of what had happened with Blaine in the past.  He wasn’t sure if that was set to change any time soon…or if he wanted it to.

“I come bearing brooms!” he called out with mock triumph, grinning over at the two of them before handing Kurt Rory’s broom and leaning in for a quick kiss.  He turned to look over at Artie and nodded him a little further down the field.  “Ready for this, Abrams?” he asked brightly.  He paused in front of the goal posts and turned back to look at Artie.  “First thing you’ve gotta do,” he explained to him before straddling over his broom.  “Is mount your broom.”

Artie jokingly rolled his eyes everytime Kurt and Sam’s lips lips made contact. He really did admire how different they were, but how much the cared about eachother. He didn’t exactly know how or when they officially became a couple, but none the less, he was happy for the blond and brunet couple. When Sam dashed away, he left Kurt and Artie standing together in the middle of the field. “Thank you so much for doing this for me, Kurt. You guys really are the best.” He said, moving some hair away from his eyes.

When Sam came back, he gave Kurt his broom and they kissed once more. Artie shook his head slightly. “So this is toned down, huh?” He smiled at the Gryffindor pair beforegrasping the handle of his broom a little tighter. This was it. This was his time to prove that he could do anything he wanted without fear. When Sam asked if he was ready, he nodded without a sound, afraid that his voice would shake. He looked down at the brand new broom in his hands, and took a deep breath.

“Ok, m..mount my broom, alright,” Artie stuttered, looking at his broom and moving it sideways. Hesitantly, he lifted his leg up and over the broomstick, shifting into a more comfortable position. He had a death grip on the from part of the broom, but overall, he was glad that he made at least some effort to fly his broom. “Ok,” he said, looking up at Sam and Kurt, “Wh… what’s next?”

“You’re welcome Artie!” Kurt chirped out happily before he turned to see Sam running back with brooms in his hand. The brunet blushed a bit when Sam kissed him once more and Artie teased them. He gave out a tiny laugh before grabbing the broom and mounting it just as Artie did. He was a bit nervous actually, of looking like an idiot in front of the person he was supposed to be teaching in the first place.

Kurt gave Artie a tentative smile before speaking up “Well then we just will it to fly, right?” he asked not knowing if that was the correct thing at all. He had made his dad sign a fake letter saying that he couldn’t do flying lessons because he had medical conditions preventing it. After that he had Sam teach him in third year after he found out that he had never learned how to fly a broom but he had forgotten almost all of the lessons that the blond male had taught him.

Learning to fly || Kurt, Sam and Artie

walkingwizard-artie:

Artie was very nervous. He had never even imagined that he would be up in the air before, and now he was off to lessons generously offered by Kurt and Sam. During his first year at Hogwarts, in their flying classes, he climbed onto his broom and flew directly into their teacher, who told him to not stay in class. He didn’t even think twice about that one. Never again did he mount a broom, until now. For their secret Santa exchange before Christmas, his secret Santa had sprung for a broom for him, and a pricey one at that. They had also left a note attached saying that they wanted him to save them a ride. Artie had no clue who would have sent him that.

Biting his lip, Artie dressed himself in an oversized t-shirt, with a long sleeved muggle shirt underneath, dark pants red converse shoes. Reajusting his glasses, he walked over to where he leaned his broom and gently grasped the handle. He rubbed his free hand against the polished wood, feeling the smooth surface. Artie sighed. He was ready to face his fear. After everything that had happened to him this year, learning to fly would be a cake walk. Hopefully.

Breathing deeply, Artie shuffled onto the quidditch field, seeing two figures standing a few lengths away. Kurt and Sam were standing side by side, it seemed like they were holding hands. Artie smiled, Kurt and Sam were a cute couple. Surprising, but cute. If Artie had known earlier, he wouldve pushed them together sooner. He snuck up behind them, his broom bristles brushing against the grass and almost giving him away. “You two aren’t going to be lovey dovey the whole time, are you?” He joked, watching them whip around as he waved a friendly hello.

Kurt walked forward, tugging Sam along with him. Dating Sam was… It came so simply to him and it caused him so much joy. He turned and placed a swift kiss against Sam’s cheek before giving out a light giggle and continuing their trek toward the Quidditch field. They had turned into that couple and he didn’t regret it one bit, he didn’t care if everyone rolled their eyes every time they walked by or if eyes were rolled every time they had to say goodbye to each other. They walked through the grass and saw several aurors staring at them with suspicion as they walked toward the Quidditch field.

Kurt skipped forward and turned to Sam with a tiny smile on his face. “I still cannot believe that you thought I liked Artie before we started going out, you are such a…” Kurt giggled a bit before speaking up “a doofus.” He let out a light melodic laugh before leaning forward and wrapping his arms around Sam’s neck. The brunet pressed his pink lips up against Sam’s plush ones before taking a step back and sticking his tongue out at him. “I have no idea where you managed to get that assumption.” Kurt rolled his eyes at Sam’s reply before walking into the stadium.

Kurt looked around the Quidditch field, trying to find Artie whom they had agreed to help with flying lessons earlier. He had no idea why he was tagging along because he was simply terrible at flying, he had ridden Santana’s broom and completely totaled it on the landing. Brushing a finger through his hair to place it back into place he jumped a bit when he heard a familiar voice behind them. Kurt whipped around, his hand disconnected from Sam’s as the blond turned around as well.

“Oh, I promise we’ll try to tone it down!” Kurt stated happily before he felt a hand finding it’s way back into his. “It’s all Sam’s fault really.” The brunet teased, turning around to nuzzle his nose against Sam’s and place a quick peck on his. He turned back towards Artie and smiled at him happily.
“Sam, go get your broom!” Kurt stated, glasz eyes flicking over to the Quidditch locker rooms by the stadium. “And steal someone’s broom for me so I don’t feel left out.” He leaned forward and placed another kiss on Sam’s lips before he watched the blond run off.

Ugh I’m so bored I’m studying..

Rachel joined him in the chorus, a real smile now present. She giggled and jumped in a circle, arms in the air, whipping her hair around. It was nice to be able to sing something without the pressure of her teammates and Mr. Schue judging her performance. She never really got to let loose and enjoy herself… Well, ever. As the song slowed she froze, arms extended at her sides dramatically.

“‘Cause baby it’s over now!
No need to talk about it

It’s not the same, My love for you’s just not the same!”

She belted, jerkily swaying from side to side, clutching her chest at the end of the verse.

“And my heart, and my heart
And my heart can’t stand the strain
And my love, and my love
And my love won’t stand the pain
And my heart, and my heart
And my heart can’t stand the strain
And my love, and my love
And my love…!”

She held the note, raising her arms until they were straight above her head and swaying her hips as she sang the chorus, Kurt joining her.
“Goodbye to you!
Goodbye to you,
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to you!”

As the chorus ended she grabbed Kurt’s hands and twirled him once, then twirled herself. Before winking to him and nodding her head to the beat, waiting for him to pick up the last repeated verse.

Kurt laughed along with Rachel, never really getting to see Rachel completely lose herself. She always worried about hitting every note perfectly and giving the best performance that she always restrained a bit of herself. Now she was singing and dancing without a care in the world and it brought a gigantic smile to his face. The terms on which the release were horrible but at least it was there and he was glad for his friend. Kurt danced around with Rachel and twirled around at the girl’s ministrations before he twirled her back.

With a wink she signaled for him to put his voice into the chorus and he inhaled deeply and brought his own unique voice into the melody that the instruments were playing.
Guess it’s better to say
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to you
Kurt skipped over and quickly danced with Rachel, keeping up with her steps and bouncing up and down to the song as he helped her vent out her feelings. He shimmied his shoulders and leaned forward before twirling around to link his arms with Rachel. He nudged her playfully with his hips and both of them sung out the final lyrics of the song.

Goodbye baby
So long darling
Goodbye to you
Their voices harmonized together and then the instruments quickly stopped. The pair panted heavily and Kurt turned to stare at Rachel with a tired smile.
“You’re my best friend, Rachel!” Kurt happily stated before pulling the other girl into a hug, he leaned back and poked her nose before speaking up once more.
“If Noah can’t see what a catch you are then it’s all his fault. I’m sure your prince is still waiting out there, and who knows-” He took a few steps back and gave her a wink “It might just be who you least expect it to be.”

gryffinberry:

She was so lost and confused, and Kurt’s words on society and couples deemed more appropriate made her furrow her brow. She pouted and sniffled again. “B-but, we’re both Jewish, Kurt! And isn’t that appropriate? And I really thought he liked me… He kissed me first! And then he had the m-” she stopped talking abruptly, realizing she couldn’t breathe a word of the map to anyone, instead deciding to give into quiet tears, keeping the secret safe. As Kurt directed her off of him, she realized she probably ruined whatever he was wearing, eyes flying instantly to the tear stained fabric covering his chest, wincing. She drew her wand and mumbled a charm, nodding in satisfaction as the moisture bled out of the shirt, leaving it unscathed.

Then he suggested singing, and everything seemed a little brighter. Music, she decided as she rose slowly, contemplating what song to sing, was the most reliable thing she would ever have in her life. It was her constant, her ability to sing. She knew it would never break her heart or decide it wanted someone blonder and prettier. Music would always be there for her, no matter how horribly she failed. A ghost of a smile on her lips, she realized what song would lift her spirits, and shot a spell at the gathered instruments, firework like sparks floating through the air for a few moments before they began playing. Her back to Kurt, she swayed her hips, losing herself in the performance when she heard her cue.

Those times I waited for you seem so long ago,
I wanted you far too much to ever let you go!”

She sang, shifting from side to side rhythmically, snapping her fingers and smiling as her friend swayed and danced in his seat.
“You know you never got by your fear to choose,
And I guess I never could stand to lose,
It’s such a pity to say,
Goodbye to you!
Goodbye to you!”

She sang loudly and vehemently, grabbing Kurt and pulling him up, nodding to him to sing the next verse.

Kurt looked down at his shirt and watched as Rachel expertly wiped away the moisture on his shirt with a quick charm. He smiled at her before he saw that fire surge through Rachel once more that had been missing for far too long. The instruments began playing and Kurt watched as the short girl started swaying her hips from side to side. Kurt swayed softly along with Rachel, smiling brightly at his friend as she lost herself in the music. He felt her hand pull him closer and he inhaled deeply before joining in on the song.

How Could I have loved someone like the one I see in you?

I remember the good times baby now, and the bad times too
These last few weeks of holding on
The days are dull, the nights are long

Guess it’s better to say Kurt sung out, bopping in rhythm to the beat of the song. He shimmied his shoulders and gave a few jazz kicks in time with his singing before turning and bumping his hip against Rachel’s lightly. Laughing lightly he tried to put his best into the song, never really having anyone to be upset with. He was with his first boyfriend and- Kurt winced, the migraine returning but he pushed it aside for Rachel’s sake.

Shaking his head lightly and giving her a smile he inhaled and sang out once more.
Goodbye to you

Goodbye to you
Goodbye to you

Goodbye to you
Kurt sung out, turning to smile over at Rachel. She was his best friend and seeing her torn up about Noah was very distressing for the countertenor. He would have a talk with the quidditch player whenever he was able to, no one went around breaking his friend’s heart and getting away with it. He gave her a smirk before nodding and giving her the go to to sing once more.

gryffinberry:

She hadn’t realized the tears were rolling down her cheeks until Kurt was there, talking to her in a soft voice and gently leading her away from the window. She slid onto the couch, resting her head on his shoulder and sniffling pathetically, ignoring the steady pace the tears were coming down with, instead letting herself sob. Everything was wrong- everything was awful. All she wanted was someone to hold her in their arms and tell her shit was gonna be fine then make a stupid joke and- No. She had to stop thinking like that! She cried until she was hiccuping for air then began to speak.

“I h-hate him so m-much!” she cried, her voice cracking. “He played me like a stupid little girl and we were selling candy illegally but it wasn’t really illegal because it was just candy but he kept k-kissing me!” she told him, inhaling deeply before continuing.

“A-and I thought he was going to ask me out and he was just taking her t-time but he wasn’t! I was just his toy until he g-got what he really wanted and I never want to see his stupid Mohawk again!” she screamed, chest heaving, before crumpling and sobbing again, against Kurt’s chest, babbling incoherently.

Kurt stared at Rachel with confusion as she confessed her hatred for some unknown boy, his mind quickly raced through all of the various men that he knew for a fact she had been with but he didn’t quite catch on until she mentioned the mohawk. Noah Puckerman, his mind quickly flashed back to the incident about a month ago when Rachel had been attacked by that death eater. What were they doing out past curfew together, anyway? It was all starting to make sense to him now, thinking back to how Noah had started dating Quinn his eyebrows furrowed and he wrapped his arms around Rachel’s shoulders.

“It’s okay, Rachel.” Kurt soothed as he placed his head on top of hers and swayed softly from side to side. “There are boys in this world who will only string you along before they decide they want someone that…” He bit his lower lip as he tried to find the proper words to use “the world deems more appropriate.” Kurt stated with a sigh. “We just have to keep waiting and then hopefully we can find the person that will truly love us.” The brunet lightly pushed Rachel away from him and smiled down at her with a tight lipped smile.

He felt horrible for her and knew exactly what rejection felt like, he remembered how devastated he was when Finn rejected him and insulted him in front of everyone back in his fourth year. However, he had Sam now and he felt somewhat guilty for having the dopey blond jock. Rachel needed someone like Sam in her life, someone humble and down to earth that could level her out and support her just like Sam did to him. “How about,” Kurt stated as his eyes swept across the various instruments in the room “We solve this like we do everything else, Miss Rachel Berry?” He tapped her nose and gave out a light laugh, trying his best to cheer up his best friend.
